This tour provides insight into Jewish immigration and life in Uruguay throughout the last century. Your tour begins in “Old Town” where Jewish immigrants began to settle at the end of the 19th century. The tour continues through Old Town passing by Golda Meir Square and the Hebraica Maccabi Sports Center, stopping to visit the Sepharadic or Ashkenazi Synagogues and the main Community Center. Continue to the “Goes” area to view the colorful housing projects built in the early 1920’s, by real-estate developer Emilio Reus, and the old Synagogue. The last portion of the tour will give you a glimpse of present day life with views of the “Pocitos” residential area and Jewish Schools concluding at the Holocaust Memorial - the only one of its kind in South America.Tour concludes at the Pier.
