“Don Arturo” Manor
Built between 1920 and 1940, this house had been occupied by 3 generations of the Solo de Zaldivar family, in Magallanes, and was home to a recognized pioneer on our region; Arturo Solo de Zaldivar Montes. Born in Punta Arenas on the year 1906, he was one of the precursors of civil aviation in Magallanes. Arturo was a Hydraulics Engineer, with studies in Loughborough, England. He was the creator of numerous hydroelectric plants in Patagonia, as well as Manager and President of mining and cattle companies on the region, achieving the status of “Ciudadano Ilustre” (en. Honorary Citizen) in 1987. This house is the starting point of our excursions.
Historic Pioneer Exhibit “José Montes”
Since it is our interest to offer a wide variety of information about this corner of the world, we have created the Historic Regional Pioneer Museum “José Montes”, as recognition to one of the precursors of cattle, mining and general business on the region. This museum is the cultural charm that, starting with the history of the custom, habits, life, environment and development of our ancestors, will become the motivational and enriching factor to bring our past generations back to life. The guided service will be complemented with tales of Historic and Cultural Colonization events, giving way to the interaction with our pioneers, our visitors seek.
Pulpería
its goal is to maintain and preserve our traditions through cooking, contributing to the making of regional taste and style of our food, pastries and decoration. This is one of the many ways that define the character of our region, and bring to our memories the warmth of our grandparents, opening a window to the colonial Patagonia… pride of our traditions. Our most outstanding products are the chocolates and marmalades, wines, handicrafts, utensils, tools, Patagonia souvenirs, and wool and leather items among others. These will make of your visit, an unforgettable moment that will remain in time.
Wine Cellar
Through its history, our country has stand out more and more because of the features and quality of its wines. The Stay thought it important not to leave this important product out of its history, and this is why we have decided to refurbish the basement of the Manor for the inclusion of the ancient wine making. Its reconstruction constitutes a delight for visitors, for through it you will feel this aroma and bouquet world much closer. In preparation for your visit, and to ensure you submerge into the regional history, we have created circuits, undoubtedly attractive for our guests, who will have the opportunity to get to know and enjoy the Chilean Wine.
