EQUIPMENT
You can be catching trout from 1 to 10 pounds on the same float trip. Suggest using 5-6-7 weight in trout areas. A depth charge, fast sinking line will be required for streamer fishing in Puerto Montt area. Fish don't seem to be leader shy when using the streamer patterns. Suggest 1X-2X adequate. Floating line and finer tippet will be needed if nymphing or dry fly action, hoppers, etc. are in season.
For sea run fish, kings can run to 20+ pounds, so heavier gear needed in the 8-9-10 weight range. Reliable disc drag large arbor suggested with appropriate sink tip to depth charge full sinking lines.
Full line of wading gear and various undergarments suggested as conditions can change hourly. A good rain coat is a must.
Flies ‚ Various styles and colors of streamers in size 6- 2x long, weighted and unweighted will work in most rivers and lakes. More precise information will be available with your guide. Flies are available at the Lodge.
It is very IMPORTANT that passengers are able to disembark by 0900hrs to be able to have sufficient time to go round the lake and be back on time!
